Where we are at:

Within Guatemala, we are currently in Stage 3 of organizing our faculties and assessing the needs of the people, which includes securing funding.

Why Guatemala?

Guatemala is the most populous country in Central America. It is a land rich in soil and climate, yet in many communities, extremely poor in resources, education, health and nutrition.

44% of the Guatemalan population is Indigenous.

79% live in poverty while 40% live in extreme poverty.

60% of the population is food insecure.

Guatemala has the 4th highest malnutrition rate in the world, and the highest in Latin American and the Caribbean.

During a recent trip to Guatemala, our Care for Life directors and other volunteers were invited to visit a local community. When the village leaders heard that representatives from Care for Life would be visiting, they gathered the people together and spoke of the responsibility that they, as a community, had to each other. They spoke of hard work and commitment. They spoke of families and neighbors working together to fix the problems they are facing. Before sunrise, the entire community gathered together and walked for hours to meet our team on the road.

This is dedication.

We believe in the Family Preservation Program and more importantly, so do the families we are working with. Together we will alleviate suffering, promote self reliance, and instill hope throughout Guatemala.
