Care for Life HELP Expedition 2024

Humanitarian Education Leadership Program

Join us for a life-changing week in Beira, Mozambique to see our Family Preservation Program in action and become a master of the 8 principles of effective humanitarian work.

Care for Life Expedition Volunteer With Kids

Expedition Objectives:

To observe and support the work of Care For Life in its commitment to sustainable community development. Expeditions are created to help global citizens:

  • Connect with families in the Family Preservation Program
  • Support communities as they care for one another
  • Learn the 8 principles of effective humanitarian work
  • Share experiences to inspire global change

Why the focus on effective humanitarian principles?

Although there are many generous people and organizations doing good in the world, sometimes well-meaning people end up unintentionally making things worse for those they are trying to help.

HELP expeditions aim to educate participants in the correct principles behind humanitarian efforts, benefitting both the giver and the recipient.

  • Each expedition week is limited to 12 participants, with slight flexibility.
  • Contact us if your group size is larger than that.
What are HELP Expeditions meant to accomplish?
  • Learn that the solution to extreme poverty is not something brought from the outside in, but rather a process achieved from the inside out.
  • Experience 8 principles of effective humanitarian work.
  • Learn and work alongside parents and children who are bettering their own circumstances.
  • Help in community service projects managed by the community members themselves.
  • Get a front row seat to the Family Preservation Program, and see it in action.
  • Connect with our fellow humans on the other side of the world.
  • Share your experience to inspire a global change in the way humanitarian aid is offered. As returning expeditioners, we lend our voices in sharing the message that the most effective way to help the poor is to support their families in gaining the knowledge and resources to become self-sustaining.

  • 7 days in country.
  • Plan for a day or two of travel on either end.

“I am so impressed with the quality of the Care for Life program. In Mozambique, we saw first hand how teaching people self-reliance brings lasting change. And when people can do things for themselves they become genuinely happy.

It is so obvious to me that teaching people how to act for themselves multiplies the good that every charitable dollar creates.  I am a huge fan of Care for Life and am an enthusiastic donor. Helping other people succeed is the secret of life.”

“Our experience with Care for Life is hard to put into words. Our hearts felt so connected to the incredible people we were able to interact with. The people are so loving and welcoming, singing and dancing with them is such a special memory. The things we saw and experienced will be cherished forever. The work Care for Life does is unlike any other I’ve seen, giving people the power to help lift themselves and their families – truly giving them HOPE. There is nothing better than that. I hope to return one day.”

“When our family decided to participate in an expedition with Care for Life in Mozambique we anticipated an adventure–but this wasn’t just an adventure. This was an experience where we understand deep in our hearts what it means to belong to a world family. An experience where we learned what it means to help and lift each other. Where we gathered confidence to see beyond our own front door and looked at the people and the places in the world that can offer us an opportunity to truly feel pure joy. Often the thrill of an adventure can fade when the moment passes, but our family experienced a change and a growth that is still very much alive within our hearts.”

Our Solution: Family Presevation Program

The purpose of our Family Preservation Program is to create self-sufficiency on an individual, family, and village-wide scale. Villages going through our program set goals in 8 Key Development Areas. After three years, they graduate, and have the skills to pull themselves out of extreme poverty.
