FPP Health
People living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic diseases receive assistance provided mostly by individual weekly visits performed by the Family Health Promoters. These individuals (5 per community) perform their responsibilities voluntarily. Each of these five volunteers visits about 35 families every week and takes care of 5 to 8 people living with HIV.
The Family Health Promoters’ main responsibilities are:
- Visit at least once a week the family of each PLWHIV or other chronic disease.
- Train their family members on how to take care of the diseased person in all physical and emotional aspects.
- Refer people with HIV or other chronic disease to consultation/intern at health Centers and Day Hospital.
- Encourage people to get HIV testing.
- Supervise the use of the bicycle ambulance.
- Help with the distribution of mosquito nets and water purification drops.
- Report to and meet regularly with CFL’s health Coordinator or Community Agent.
