Children Are the Future
How Do We Change Children's Lives?
It starts with a goal and ends with a change of life.
1. Orphan prevention | 2. Stay Alive Program | 3. Hope for the Future
WHO WE ARE
"Care for Life made an enormous difference in Mbatwe. Before we were in darkness, but Care for Life showed us what needed to be done."
1. ORPHAN PREVENTION
34 Million orphans in sub-Saharan Africa – caused by AIDS, war, disease, and starvation. The situation has reached alarming proportions despite the efforts of many to care for orphans.
Care for Life is taking a different approach than just figuring out how to care for orphans — we focus on orphan prevention.
We focus on making the changes at the family level.
Within the first year of the program Care for Life is successful at reducing the community mortality rate by more than 50%, thus drastically reducing the cause of children being orphaned.
2. STAY ALIVE PROGRAM
Of the 34 Million orphans 11 million have been orphaned by AIDS. One of the teachings of the Stay Alive Program is to STOP THE CYCLE.
In each village Care for Life teaches weekly classes to 9-16 year old children about the importance of:
Children attending school – Exited villages
|Community||% Before |
Care for Life
|% After Implementation of program||Total children attending school|
|Ngupa 1 & 2||62%||84%||222|
|Bispo 1 & 2||68%||84%||683|
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Care for Life is looking for funding to update the new Stay Alive curriculum. A booklet will be given to all children, so they can refer to it anytime they would like.
3. HOPE FOR THE FUTURE
Through the goals program families set priority of what is most important for their future. Families with children set goals that focus on helping their children have a better future.
